SUMMARY:40th Annual Mule Day-Southern Heritage Festival
DESCRIPTION:Our 2020 Event is canceled...however\, mark your calendar now for October 9\, 2021\n\nwhen we will celebrate our 40th Annual Mule Day - Southern Heritage Festival\n\n \n\n\nJoin us as we celebrate the 40th Annual Mule Day - Southern Heritage Festival in 2020!\n\n\n\nSo just what is Mule Day all about? The Mule was the "tractor" for the farms of early America. Imagine being without your car....that's how important the Mule was for early farmers.\n\n\n\nSo what will I see at Mule Day? Mule Day is a look back at life on a rural farm. There will be Mule Plowing Demonstrations. Draft and Cotton Mules and a Mule Show with ribbons for various classes of mules - a veritable Mule Beauty Contest. There's even a chance to try your hand at plowing with a mule. In addition to all that\, you'll see a special show with highly trained mules.\n\n\n\nDemonstrations of lost arts such as Cornhusk Weaving\, Blacksmithing\, Rope Making\, Soap Making and much more. (Demonstrations vary year to year.) Hosts in the 3 house museums will be in period costumes appropriate for the 1785 log cabin\, 1790 Grey House\, and the 1869 Greek Revival. The will also be period music such as mandolin\, vocal\, fiddle etc in the morning and afternoon at the various homes.\n\n\n\nThe day is filled with many antique tractors and antique cars. A huge turpentine still made entirely of copper will be on display\, as will a Jail Wagon\, Chuck Wagon and a Tinker's wagon. Old Doc Bell's Tonic and Elixers\, include authentic root beer\, birch beer\, cream soda and more will be available too. (Snake oil not included!)\n\n\n\nIt's a blast from the past - 150 years ago! Make us a part of your family's tradition. Held annually on the 2nd Saturday in October. \n\n\n\n#DowntownWashingtonGa #Antiques #Daytrip #Events #Museum #Kids #Children #Activity\n\n#Food #Augusta #Oconee #Army #UGA #Reynolds #Aiken #Mules #AmericanRevolution #Mule
