    Description:
    The Bartram Trail Regional Library System is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual to serve as the Thomson-McDuffie County Library Branch Manager in Thomson, GA.  This forty (40) hour per week salaried position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Thomson-McDuffie County Library. Reports to the Director.
     
    Responsibilities include but not limited to delivering public service at the circulations desk, resolving patron issues, presenting programs for patrons including children's programs, collection development, supervising, scheduling, and training library staff, coordinating services with other libraries in the region for cohesiveness, and acts as a liaison with community organizations and library boards.  Some weekend work required.
     
    Qualifications: Applicant must have some skills in computers applications, filing and record keeping, and ability to provide good customer service and staff support.  Prior managerial, public service, or library work is preferred.  Applicant must be able to physically lift thirty (30) pounds, bend, stoop, reach, and climb.  

    Example of Duties:
    The Library and Technology Manager's duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
    Maintains hours of operation of the Thomson McDuffie County Library.
    Oversees hiring and scheduling of library staff. 
    Oversees maintenance of the library building.
    Oversees and monitors handling of fines, lost, and damaged items; works with Business Office on handling and processing fines and fees. 
    Handles all day-to-day operations of the Thomson McDuffie County Library in accordance to the Bartram Trail Regional Library Policy Manual and under the supervision of the Director.
    Oversees Children's Programming.
    Circulation of materials including checking items in and out and inter/intra library loans.
    Provides basic technology support to staff and patrons. 
    Maintains historical records pertaining to the surrounding community and all library related records.
    Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Understand the purpose and functions of public libraries
    Knowledge of all policies, procedures, and activities of the Library System as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position of Branch Manager.
    Ability to apply appropriate independent judgment and problem solving skills when interpreting the application of library policies, procedures and guidelines.
    Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize daily assignments and work activities.
    Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    Ability to use Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel) as well as G-mail and G-Suite
    Knowledge of library automated system and ability to teach staff and patrons to use system effectively.
    Knowledge of Dewey Decimal system, reference resources, and branch collections.
    Ability to be flexible and adapt to frequently changing environment.
    Familiarity with needs of local patrons of the branch library.
    Flexible, adapting to new situations, systems, and tools with the ability to work under pressure while juggling several task simultaneously and manage time efficiently
