    Description

Religious Life in the Backcountry of Georgia during the American Revolution offers a broad look at how faith and religion influenced everyday life in frontier Georgia during the era of the American Revolution.  In a region marked by hardship, conflict, and rapid change, religious belief provided comfort, community, and guidance for many settlers. The Presentation explores the churches, denominations, and spiritual traditions that were present in the backcountry of Georgia, and how religion shaped family life, education, social gatherings, and responses to the challenges of war.  It also considers the experiences of different groups who lived in the region. By examining the connection between faith and daily life, this program provides a deeper understanding of the people and culture of revolutionary Georgia.  Tim Drake guest speaker
